Kenya has lost a great patriot and Statesman. As we mourn the sad demise of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, E.G.H, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, we should reflect on his many achievements and service to the Nation.
The late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga will be remembered for the pivotal role he played in nurturing democracy in Kenya, which has contributed to the stability of our Nation and the freedoms we all enjoy. Where many nations stumbled and fell into turmoil due to the competitive nature of politics, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga held Kenya together.
He was a man of great courage and convictions, and he dearly loved Kenya. True to the title of Baba, he always put the interests of all Kenyans above his own. He had a rare ability to rise above political contestations and situations that threatened to tear the fabric of our Nation and make decisions for the better of Kenya, even where he was a contestant. He had a unique understanding and capacity to balance the needs of the masses and statecraft, which allowed him to make difficult decisions, which in the fulness of time proved to be right.
He was a Pan Africanist at heart and believed very strongly in the African dream; a continent where all countries were peaceful, connected to each other and trading with one another.
As the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga leaves the scene, we should emulate and embrace the vision he had for Kenya and our continent.
May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace.
