PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has sent condolences to his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto and the people of Kenya following the death of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
Mr Odinga (80) died of a heart attack on Wednesday in India, where he was receiving treatment.
A memorial service was held in his honour in Nairobi yesterday and he will be buried tomorrow.
Mr Odinga is viewed as a towering figure in Kenyan politics, known for his unwavering commitment to the development of Kenya.
As tributes pour in from across the globe, President Mnangagwa yesterday reaffirmed the bonds of friendship and solidarity shared between the two countries.
“It was with deep shock and profound sadness that I learnt of the passing on of Mr Raila Amolo Odinga, the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya on October 15, 2025,” said President Mnangagwa.
“On behalf of the Government, the people of the Republic of Zimbabwe, my family and indeed my own behalf, I extend to you, Your Excellency and the bereaved Odinga family, our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences.”
He said the former prime minister will be remembered for his distinguished service to the development of Kenya.
“We will forever cherish Mr Odinga’s commitment to our shared regional and continental developmental aspirations.
“Please accept, Your Excellency and dear brother, our heartfelt sympathies and the assurances of my highest consideration,” said President Mnangagwa in a statement.
