On behalf of the Council, Management, and Members of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), I convey our profound sorrow and deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the people of Kenya following the passing of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga EGH, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya.

Rt. Hon. Odinga was an enduring and monumental figure in Kenya’s political landscape, a tireless champion for democracy, social justice, and sound governance. His unwavering dedication to the welfare of Kenyans was evidenced across decades of exemplary public service. His fierce commitment to championing the rights and inherent dignity of all citizens, irrespective of their social standing, reflected a profound humanism and an unshakeable belief in the nation’s potential.

As Human Resource Professionals, we recognize that Rt. Hon. Odinga embodied the foundational values of our profession: a deep commitment to people, the courage to champion fairness and equity, and the strategic vision necessary to nurture talent and potential in others. He devoted his life to advocating for the rights of Kenyans, fostering inclusive governance, and maintaining an uncompromising stand on matters of principle. His people-centered leadership, remarkable resilience in the face of adversity, and passion for empowering the marginalized stand as an enduring example for all of us within the HR fraternity and beyond.

As the nation mourns the loss of this extraordinary statesman, we collectively celebrate his momentous legacy and the indelible impact he had in shaping modern Kenya. The IHRM fraternity stands in solidarity with the nation during this period of grief. We pray that the Almighty God grants his family, loved ones, and all Kenyans strength, comfort, and serene peace during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
